Cyclists (or other road users / witnesses) who have been involved in a crash or near miss can call the toll free hotline and report the event. Information is collected regarding the type of incident (whether a near miss or physical crash), injuries sustained, whether the incident was also reported to Police as well as location, date, time, causative factors and environmental conditions. Over time this database will provide a useful indication of areas of concern for cycle safety, particularly because it includes near-misses which are generally not reported to Police and thus increases the sample size. viii
