dedicated and distinguished Story: Kate Veteri Two of HIA’s distinguished employees and members have received Australian awards –congratulations to Glenn Simpson and Bruce Langford-Jones. Glenn Simpson Glenn Simpson was recognised in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours list. He received a medal in the General Division of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to the building and construction sector, particularly to housing. Glenn was an employee of HIA for more than 20 years, providing members and the residential building industry with immeasurable service. Over these years, Glenn held several positions from HIA’s legal counsel to a National Board Director. Knowledgeable in all matters contractual, legal, corporate governance and industrial relations, he represented the industry to state and federal governments throughout his time. Glenn also showed commitment to the industry through his position as chair of the Construction and Property Industry Skills Council, representing training and workforce development needs in the building and construction industry. GLENN SIMPSON WAS The birthday honours list rewards and highlights good work completed by Australian citizens RECOGNISED IN THE during the celebrations of the Queen’s ocial birthday. 2018 QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY HONOURS LIST Bruce Langford-Jones Bruce Langford-Jones was recognised in the 2018 Australia Day Honours list. He received a medal in the General Division of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his contribution to the building and construction industry, and to golf. Bruce, founder of Langford Jones Homes, has been managing director of Langford Jones Homes for more than 35 years – one of Australia’s largest domestic building companies. He is someone who over the years has tirelessly advocated for the residential building industry through his contributions as a former HIA National President and HIA National Board Member, as well as chair of BRUCE HIA’s National Planning Committee as well as the National Skills Initiative LANGFORD- for the building industry on behalf of the federal government. JONES WAS Bruce has also had significant involvement in golf for more than 25 RECOGNISED years. He previously held the position of club captain at Kingston Heath Golf IN THE 2018 Club and is currently the club captain at Sorrento Golf Club.
