Sebastian King, Mr Jared Goldthorpe and Jackson McCleery Newington swimmers and coach on pathway to success Head Swim Coach Mr Jared Goldthorpe and two students, Sebastian King (Year 10) and Jackson McCleery (Year 11), have been involved in Swimming NSW’s 2022–2023 Performance Pathway Program this year. Sebastian is part of the Target Transition Squad, which ensures talented swimmers who are transitioning from age group to open level swimming are captured and remain on the Performance Pathway and will be on track for State and National representation within the next Olympic cycle. Jackson is part of the Sharks Squad, which is designed to identify emerging age group swimmers. Members of the squad, according to Swimming NSW, will: • Develop technical skills. • Gain racing experience through quality age-group competition. • Maintain motivation to continue competing in the sport. NSW’s best swimmers are paramount to their overall development. • Develop holistically as a person. With their newly gained knowledge and skills, we look to incorporate • Be provided with skills to balance sport and non-sport life. their experiences back into the Newington junior program.
