Use work benches or similar to work at a suitable height and avoid working at ground level. • If a tool is designed to be used with both hands, then it must be used with both hands. Ensure handles are in place and secure before using. • Keep hands and fingers away from rotating parts always. Maintain good footing and balance while using power or hand tools. • Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order, test and tagged with current tag attached and inspected before use. Remove faulty equipment from service and report it immediately to your Team Leader/Supervisor or Manager. • PPE must be worn at all times when using hand tools and power tools. Safety glasses, hearing protection and safety footwear are a minimum. Some power tools such as angle grinders require the use of a face shield. Gloves are required when handling material that has been cut leaving sharp edges, burrs, splinters etc. • Ensure blades, bits, grinding discs etc. are installed the correct way and match the recommended cutting speed.
