The scheduled site therefore makes provision for the operation of Wairau Hospital and related services. Relying on existing use rights alone would be very limiting for this activity. The schedule allows for normal hospital and related activities, while ensuring that the residential amenity of neighbouring areas at the boundary of the site is maintained. The site has been scheduled over and above its residential zoning so that, in the event of health services ceasing on some or all of the site, there is provision for alternative use compatible with the amenity and quality of the local environment. 6.
