This will enable the salvage yard and ewaste facility to be located on the same site. The shop now receives clothing donations which are resold to the community or to rag dealers. The site will be converted to allow the public to drop materials into the sorting facility from the existing drop off point. Commercial operators will drive directly into the building and deposit their materials on the tipping floor. Material delivered to the site will be weighed and a gate fee in dollars per tonne charged. Material received will be put through a sorting process where cardboard, plastics, glass, metal, brick, soil, rubble and timber are all recovered for reuse or recycling. The CIF will divert up to 8,000 tonnes of material a year once fully operational.
