Progress to date includes a granular needs analysis of clinical trial workforce education, training and professional development to inform the design and piloting of competency frameworks for key sections of the clinical trial workforce; clinical trials assistant and clinical trials coordinator traineeship programs; a clinical trial investigator-initiated workshop; an online learning and resource platform; peer support program; and a regional induction and support program. Building Nursing Research Capability This new SRP program seeks to build cancer nursing research capability and utilise this to enhance patient care, health outcomes and health services efficiency. The key element of this program is the development of research literacy and capability among cancer nurses, supported by the innovative Nurse-led Research Hub. This hub will provide a range of services and resources including training and mentorships; seed funding for research projects and a central point of coordination to maximise impact. Over time, it is anticipated that the Nurse-led Research Hub will help foster a culture of research among cancer nurses, and through this make meaningful improvements to hospital-based service delivery and ultimately, patient experience. The hub will be officially launched in early 2019. Further information about the Hub can be found on the VCCC website. 34
