Education and Training COMMITTEE CHAIR’S REPORT Michelle Barrett, VCCC Head of Education and Training (left) and Professor Grant McArthur, VCCC Executive Director (right) welcome Dr Kylie Mason (centre) to her new role as Chair of CETAC Major Uplift in Cancer Workforce Education As the incoming Chair of the Cancer Education and Training Advisory Committee, I would like to thank Professor Geoff McColl for his contribution to the committee and VCCC education program over the past eight years. This year educational and training opportunities have expanded rapidly with workshops, training, weekly lectures and conferences being delivered to more than 6,000 participants from metropolitan and regional Victoria. The Cancer Survivorship for Primary Care Practitioners program (refer to page 38) was a great example of partnering for success. In particular, we were grateful and proud to work with the members of our community who have a lived experience of cancer, as they became content writers, interview subjects and teachers in this program. With the launch of the Master of Cancer Sciences on the horizon for 2019, and major investment in supporting education around nurse-led research and developing the cancer clinical trials workforce, we have a very exciting time ahead. Across these programs there are many and varied opportunities for interested individuals within VCCC alliance partners to get involved, thus ensuring programming is relevant, innovative and anchored in best practice medicine.
