Policy and Frameworks NT Major Events takes its responsibilities seriously and develops and reviews policies and frameworks constantly to ensure best practice is applied. In the 2023 - 2024 financial year, NT Major Events has reviewed and developed the following documents with a focus on managing strategic risks and contemporary governance topics: Board of Directors’ Guidelines Board Charter Finance and Risk Audit Committee Charter Board Delegations Policy Artificial Intelligence Policy Flexible Working Arrangements Policy Working From Home and Working Alone Policy All Directors of the Board declare potential conflicts of interest annually and as part of the beginning of each committee and board meeting. The Company Secretary maintains a register of conflicts. NT Major Events has also modernised its constitution. The preamble has been updated, the content refreshed, and clear guidelines established for the appointment and removal of directors. Additionally, the board’s tenure and composition are now defined through a new Board Composition and Recruitment Policy. External Scrutiny Northern Territory Major Events Company continues to work with leading industry experts to undertake internal audits across our annual events portfolio. This provides an additional layer of scrutiny to the planning of major events, delivery and onsite venue operations and best practice in safety and governance practices. Aligned with the company Strategic Risk focus on venue and accessibility, a comprehensive accessibility audit for BASSINTHEGRASS was undertaken. This audit encompassed a thorough review of communication materials, both online and on-site, as well as an assessment of event structures, customer experience, and patron-specific feedback regarding accessibility. Whilst the audit identified areas for improvements, it highlighted the exceptional support for people with hidden disabilities or who were neurodiverse that resulted from NT Major Events’ participation in the Sunflower Initiative and the support provided by the All Good team on the ground. Overall, 15 recommendations were made, with five of these in a high priority, including: Sourcing of accessible portable toilets that comply with AS 1428.1-2009; Development of accessible website content; Specific venue map that outlines accessible features; Compliant temporary accessible car parking; Accessible drinking fountains and water taps. Based on the Financial Management and Compliance/Fraud and Strategic Risk NT Major Events also employed Merit Partners to undertake a Procurement and Contract Management internal audit. Due to NTMECs NTG shareholders the Northern Territory Auditor General conducts an annual external audit on NT Major Events’ financial statements and processes.
