Creating and curating unique opportunities for visitors and Territorians to connect and share memorable moments during events in the Territory, while also making it a better place to visit and live, has been—and will continue to be—a central focus of the company’s work. None of this is possible without the passion and professionalism that the staff at Northern Territory Major Events Company bring to every project. Their hard work has been the cornerstone of the Company’s accomplishments. The progress the Company has achieved over the past year in staff development, capability building, governance and collaboration with industry has enabled it to continue to innovate, collaborate, and celebrate the events industry across the Territory. This progress ultimately displays the talent not only of the Company’s people but also of the wider community, who contribute, to producing the unique and iconic Territory events. After joining the board in 2013, initially as Chair, it was my honour to be once again appointed Chair in September 2023 and to take on these new challenges as the organisation marks its quarter of a century. I want to take this opportunity, on behalf of all those associated with Northern Territory Major Events Company for the past decade, to thank our former Chair, Alistair Feehan, for his leadership over the past nine years, and his earlier contribution as a board member. Alistair handed over the reins in September 2023 and we wish him all the best for his future. I am pleased to announce that our board has grown to eight members with four noteworthy additions that bolster our expertise in key areas. It is gratifying to be able to welcome Lauren Ganley, Tony Morgan, Peter Jones AM and Central Australian board member, and Arrernte woman, Sera Bray. To all our Board, new and old, I extend my gratitude and look forward to working with the team to deliver on our strategic priorities. Michael BridgeChairman – Northern Territory Major Events Company I would also like to thank the Northern Territory Major Events Board for their commitment to, and passion for, growing the Territory and visitor economy. We have made exciting progress in so many areas and we will continue to set new standards and reach new heights. Northern Territory Major Events Company – ANNUAL REPORT 2023/24 9
