One of the main 2024 event drawcards was Nitro Up North on the Friday and Saturday nights. Also hugely popular was the inaugural Track to Town event that saw all 25 Supercars drive through the streets of Darwin in convoy from Hidden Valley Raceway to The Esplanade where they stopped for a drivers’ signing. This Australian first event achieved a remarkable satisfaction score of 4.6 out of 5. The event featured the country’s only Indigenous Round and included Racing Together; an initiative that helps Indigenous youth pursue a career in motorsports, NT Major Event supported two Brisbane teens to race in the Combined Sedans category aided by Territory Indigenous mechanics. The extraordinary liveries on all of the Supercars, SuperUtes – with Porsche joining this year – was another aspect of the Indigenous Round, giving art and culture pride of place. Three in five attendees agreed this initiative celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in a meaningful way. The benefits were impressive for the local economy, delivering $26.62m in total expenditure stimulus into the NT. Indeed, just over 88% of attendees agreed that the event has a positive impact on the Darwin community. Local businesses benefited, not only from the associated influx of visitors and participants to Darwin, but also in Porche’s proactive approach of only using local businesses to build and maintain its infrastructure on site. Customer satisfaction was rated as 7.8 out of 10, with more than 40% of attendees providing a rating of 9 or 10 out of 10. Almost half of attendees (47.1%) said they were very likely to attend betr Darwin Triple Crown again next year (9-10/10 rating) while almost 70% of Territorian attendees agreed that the event made them proud to be a Territorian (69.8%). The adrenaline-fuelled betr Darwin Triple Crown is the perfect winter escape for Australian motorsport fans and this year saw almost 40,000 attendees – including 47.3% interstate visitors – soaking up the action.
