Red CentreNATS 1-3 September 2023 14,700 attendances were recorded across the event for the ninth annual RedCentreNATS with 800 entrants. More than half of attendees, 53.9 per cent, came from interstate with the largest portion of interstate visitors (37 per cent) hailing from South Australia. Red CentreNATS was responsible for generating a total expenditure stimulus in the Northern Territory of $6.36 million, of which 85.2 per cent ($5.53 million) was new money to the Territory. The three-day event also produced a total of 18,174 visitor nights in the Territory. The action-packed event held over Father’s Day weekend included for the first time the Fringe Festival which brought motorsport fans to Alice Springs town centre for an informal show ‘n’ shine, outdoor cinema, and food trucks on the Thursday evening. The Yeperenye Shopping Centre Street Parade, the largest of its kind, saw hundreds of vehicles, from hot rods and motorbikes to elites and vintage rides, cruise through the packed town centre on Saturday afternoon. There was also plenty of burnouts, drags and exquisite vehicles on show across Blatherskite Park, Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID), and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment where the scrutineering and Podium Party Concert featuring the Angels tribute band Face to Face took place. This year’s RCN also included the first Motorvation Supercruise which gave entrants of all skill levels the chance to ‘send it’ down the dragway before doing a skid on the burnout pad. The successful Rusted Gem Project returned to the RCN program. This initiative gives Indigenous youth an opportunity to learn hands-on skills while learning how to restore, and then paint vehicles. Their vehicle received the Minister’s Choice Award. Independent research found 96.8 per cent of Red CentreNATS attendees agreed with the statement, ‘Red CentreNATS makes me proud to be a Territorian, and ‘Red CentreNATS provides a positive impact on the Alice Springs community’. Red CentreNATS (RCN) rolled into Alice Springs with brand new activations kicking off the Ultimate Festival of Wheels a day early.
