Executive Summary Executive Summary Purpose of the Plan The Marlborough District Council has an obligation to residents and ratepayers to manage the Council’s assets and to provide acceptable standards of service in a cost effective manner. The Local Government Act 2002 requires territorial authorities to develop and maintain asset management plans as part of strategic planning processes to achieve desired community outcomes, support financial plans, funding decisions and to provide a framework for the Council to manage its assets. In the Long Term Plan Reserves and Amenities is referred to as Community Facilities. This is because this category encompasses community halls, aquatic facilities, walkways and cycle routes as well as reserves and their facilities.
