Marlborough District Council Roading Assets - Activity Management Plan 2015 - 2018 SECTION 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY There are 5 concrete fords on the road which require regular maintenance and clearing, especially post storm events, to keep operational. 1.6.18.4 Demand / Growth Traffic volumes have been steady at approx. 130 AADT over the last 5 years but traffic flow is very seasonal with the bulk of traffic using the road during winter. The viability of ski field operation has been marginal over the last few years but it is unlikely to close in the foreseeable future. Closure of the ski field would be likely to revoke the SPR status of the road. 1.6.18.5 Life Cycle Management As for sealed pavement refer Section 6.1. Three sections have been identified for resurfacing in the 15/16 financial year. As follows: RP 1.85 to 5.44 3.59km RP 11.75 to 12.34 0.59km RP 13.71 to 14.08 0.37km Total 4.55kkm 1.6.18.6 Costs / Financial / FWP Financial FWP attached at the end of this section. The maintenance allocation includes for Routine pavement maintenance, inspections, repairs etc. Ana additional $5k has been allowed for in 2015/16 for additional ‘pre-reseal’ works, minor levelling etc. Routine drainage maintenance, clearing of watertables, cuvlerts etc. Routine environmental maintenance, vegetation control and winter maintenance Routine traffic services, sign repair and cleaning. The renewal request includes for resealing 4.55km in 15/16 (4550 x 5.1 x $5.2 = $120,000) As a SPR the funding for maintenance, renewals and capital works (if any) has a Financial Assistance Rate (FAR) of 100%. 1.6.18.7 Issues and Risks The following have been identified as the main issues related to SPR: Availability during snow events; Winter maintenance around fords.
