Marlborough District Council Roading Assets - Activity Management Plan 2015 - 2018 SECTION 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.6.6 Environmental 1.6.6.1 Description This Section replaces four sections of the previous AMP, Street Cleaning, Vegetation Control (Verges), Incident Response and Emergency Reinstatement. Therefore for continuity this section is broken into those elements as follows: 1.6.6.2 Street Cleaning The activity covered by this section of the AMP includes the cleaning of various road and off-road areas not covered by the removal of surface detritus under sealed pavement maintenance and footpath maintenance. The specific items covered in this section include the following: Blenheim, Picton and Redwoodtown Central Business District (CBD) cleaning Seddon, Renwick and Havelock townships MDC car park cleaning Emptying of litter bins Blenheim township weekly additional glass patrol and clean up The limits of the Blenheim, Redwoodtown and Picton CBD cleaning areas are shown in Appendix I. The location of MDC car parks are also shown in Appendix I. A list of the location and number of litter bins is detailed in Appendix I. 1.6.6.2.1 Age and Current Condition Street Cleaning is an activity rather than an actual asset therefore ‘Age’ and ‘Current Condition’ is not applicable. The footpath, car park, and litter bin assets themselves are discussed under the relevant sections of Footpaths, Car parks, and Street Furniture. 1.6.6.2.2 Level of Service In considering the level of service for street cleaning it is necessary to define who are the consumers, or groups, most affected by this activity and what are their expectations or desired out comes. This activity predominantly relates to CBD cleaning therefore the main consumer groups are: General public, particularly pedestrians / shoppers Business owners, particularly retailers Other affected consumers are cyclists and pedestrians, particularly relating to clean up of broken glass From previous consultation with interest groups the following expectations have been agreed: 30 September 2014 Page 81 of Section 1
