Marlborough District Council Roading Assets - Activity Management Plan 2015 - 2018 SECTION 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The survey was scheduled to be undertaken again in 2013/14 but this was deferred because of the installation of the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) fibre network. The installation work is programmed for completion toward the end of 2014, it is proposed to undertaken a footpath and kerb and channel rating survey again in 2015. The survey rated the Kerb and channel from 1 (excellent) to 5 (very poor) by section. Condition Rating Description 1 Excellent In a new state like condition 2 Good In good condition with minimal cracking or settlement. Sumps are good and system has no drainage faults. Condition fair, is still serviceable, may have some cracks 3 Average but they do not compromise drainage systems. Some small maintenance items may be required Kerb and channel in poor condition, significant defects. 4 Poor Failed sections allow ingress of water to pavement. Routine maintenance should be programmed. Poor alignment (out of shape) with low and sunken areas 5 Very Poor of invert. Defects may adversely affect pavement, footpath or both. May require reactive maintenance, Renewal works should be programmed. Table 6.3.2.1a: Kerb and channel Condition Ratings: The current condition in 2010/2011 of the kerb and channel, is detailed in figure 6.3.2.1b, which shows that 58% of the existing kerb and channel is of average condition with a further 39% being good to excellent. The following are the results of the last survey, it is considered that the current condition is slightly better as the renewals programme over the last 3 years has targeted the very poor and poor condition surface water channels. Condition Kerb and Channel 1 20.0km (8%) 2 81.6km (31%) 3 153.0km (58%) 4 7.3km (3%) 5 1.4km (1%) Table 6.3.2.1b: Assessed Current Condition of Kerb and Channel 6.3.2.2 Culverts There is a high level of confidence in the RAMM inventory data regarding the number and size of culverts however there is little information on age or condition. 30 September 2014 Page 59 of Section
